Even their names suggest vehemence and sonic assault. The Russian composer, Gergiev and the London Symphony Orchestra all live up to the expectations. A CD which does exactly what it promises. Rachmaninov's symphony is music which pins you to the back of your seat. Gergiev keeps things lively with his singular vision which the orchestra is more than capable of fulfilling.
